Colossal 60-foot screens, 4K digital pictures, premium Dolby ATMOS sound systems and 100-percent heated reclining seats coming this summer to North Olmsted

March 28, 2024

North Olmsted, Ohio – As Phoenix Theatres prepares to open this summer at Great Northern Mall, the company announces it will bring specially designed ENCORE auditoriums to the property, providing an unprecedented cinematic experience for the region.

ENCORE will immerse viewers in a world of stunning, larger-than-life visuals and captivating audio. The auditoriums are outfitted with the latest technology that renders visuals in crystal clear 4K resolution, perfectly paired with immersive Dolby ATMOS cinematic audio.

Each reclining seat is equipped with an adjustable 3-setting heating function, allowing customers to individually customize their seat's temperature. This innovative heating feature, along with their signature reclining loveseats, adjustable armrests, and six feet of legroom, ensures the ultimate comfort during their movie experience.

Dolby ATMOS is a groundbreaking audio technology that enriches your moviegoing experience. It allows sound to move around the room to create dynamic effects and deliver a sense of realism and immersion. Unlike traditional channel-based sound systems, Dolby ATMOS does not confine sounds to specific speakers. Instead, it positions sounds in the auditorium with pinpoint accuracy, creating a three-dimensional soundscape that makes you feel like you are inside the film. This revolutionary system provides an unmatched audio experience that adds depth and clarity to every scene.

“Just when we thought that cinema sound couldn’t get any better, this system significantly raises the bar and we immediately knew that ENCORE had to include this amazing experience,” said Cory Jacobson, President of Phoenix Theatres. “It is also purely exciting to offer the largest screens in the community at Phoenix Theatres Great Northern Mall.”

One of the standout features of the ENCORE experience is the unique "Black Box" design. The auditoriums are equipped with absorptive paneling, isolating wall structures, black acoustical drapes, black seats, and black carpet. These features are designed to enhance the color accuracy of the picture on screen, reduce reflection of ambient light and provide a distraction-free environment, thereby elevating the overall viewing experience.

“Quality presentation is paramount in our design philosophy. We believe that these auditoriums provide the best possible moviegoing experience,” said Jordan Hohman, Vice President of Project Development for Phoenix Theatres. “This is a unique opportunity to really bring the director’s vision to life on the big screen in a pristine cinema environment that creates an unmatched and immersive grand spectacle.”

As a reflection of what residents can expect, the 4 ENCORE auditoriums will feature:

  • Maximum 60 foot screens
  • 4K digital projection
  • Dolby Atmos spatial audio
  • Heated reclining loveseats
  • Distraction-free Black Box environment

Moreover, the ENCORE auditoriums will house the largest screens in the region, increasing picture size by nearly 35 percent over other large format offerings. These colossal screens at Phoenix Great Northern Mall, coupled with cutting-edge projection and sound technology, will offer an unmatched viewing experience that brings each scene to life in vivid detail.
