Michigan-Based Company Wins Cinema Technology / Revitalization Award for North America’s Finest Equipped Theatre Development of 2022 Including: Heated Recliners, 4K Digital & Dolby ATMOS

February 03, 2022

Kentwood, Michigan – Phoenix Theatres was honored by the International Cinema Technology Association at their recent Los Angeles Convention as the winner of the prestigious North American Cinema Refurbishment Project of 2022 for their new theatre at Woodland Mall in West Michigan. This award is presented to the theatrical cinema project that excels in revitalizing a cinema to include the finest in technical achievements and overall customer amenities.

The ICTA honored Phoenix Woodland as the first cinema in West Michigan to feature Dolby ATMOS (one of the only in the United States to feature the revolutionary sound system in 4 auditoriums) and coupling this technology with 4K digital projection and heated reclining seats, making Woodland one of the finest equipped theatres in North America.

Accepting the award on behalf of Phoenix Theatres was Phoenix Theatres Owner, Cory Jacobson and Phoenix’s Executive in Charge of Project Development, Jordan Hohman. "It is truly an extraordinary honor to be acknowledged for our work by such an esteemed international organization as the ICTA," said Jacobson. "The ICTA organization embodies the standard for excellence in theatrical projection and sound, representing the cinema manufacturers, dealers and film studios and to be recognized by this group for a project that exemplifies all of our greatest ambitions is simply overwhelming," said Hohman. "This project unexpectedly put the spotlight of the international cinema industry on Grand Rapids, and we are grateful for their support and recognition."
